Heathrow Animal Reception Centre (HARC) is the Live Animal Border Inspection Post (BIP) for Heathrow airport. 

All animals entering or re-entering the UK must pass through HARC to check for compliance with UK legislation. Every year we check and care for millions of animals of different types including dogs, cats, horses, snakes, and even white lion cubs.

HARC main responsibilities

  • Collecting animals from the aircraft and bringing them back to HARC
  • Checking dogs, cats and ferret's paperwork for compliance when imported under The Pet Travel Scheme
  • Checking animal shipments are packed according to International Air Transport Association (IATA) requirements
  • Providing temporary accommodation for animals transiting through Heathrow
  • Upholding all EU and UK regulations relating to animal movement

    Heathrow Animal Reception Centre can be found just off the Southern Perimeter Road. From junction 14 of the M25, follow the signs towards Terminal 4 and cargo. Beacon road is on your right, approximately half a mile before Terminal 4.
