Weight restrictions at Tower Bridge

7.5T maximum gross weight area ban

The City of London Corporation operate a 7.5 tonnes maximum gross weight (MGW) limit over the central area of the City of London . Vehicles needing access to premises within the ban zone to load or unload are exempted from the restriction.

The extent of the ban is shown in blue on map A (640KB) . The roads forming the boundary to the zone are not included in the ban.

Specific weight limit bans

In addition to the 7.5 tonnes area ban, we have four specific weight restrictions in the City of London.

  1. Gracechurch Street  left into Eastcheap 18T MGW ahead into King William Street 18T MGW right into Cannon Street/King William Street 18T MGW
  2. Tower Bridge and approaches 18T MGW
  3. Garlick Hill 7.5T MGW
  4. College Hill at junction with Cannon Street 7.5T MGW

The specific weight restrictions are marked on map B(640KB) and shown on the traffic signs at the entrance to these streets.
