Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) for contravention 52M at the following locations

Cornhill, Lombard Street, Mansion House and Princes Street.

On 22 May 2017 the City of London Corporation started its experimental safety scheme, Bank on Safety, which will run for up to 18 months. A decision on the scheme will be made by the Court of Common Council on 13 September 2018.

Only buses and pedal cyclists are allowed to cross Bank Junction or access Cornhill in a westbound direction Monday - Friday 7am-7pm

If you have been issued with a PCN for contravention 52M at one of the above locations for

Failing to comply with a prohibition on certain types of vehicle (motor vehicles) - only buses and pedal cycles allowed Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm it is because the vehicle mentioned was seen passing through Bank Junction during the restricted time.

Blue bus and cycle only signs are displayed at the entry points of the restriction. There are advance directional signs giving warnings on the restriction to help with alternative routes.

You can pay a parking ticket or challenge a parking ticket.

Penalty notice: £65 if paid within 14 days

About the restrictions

Bank Junction has heavy pedestrian use and the underground exits contribute to pedestrians crowding around the junction. Also a high collision and casualty record called for improvements.

  • Access to Cornhill

Vehicles can continue to access Cornhill via a left turn from Threadneedle Street only. Vehicles travelling westbound on Leadenhall Street can turn right into Bishopsgate.

  • Motorcycles and scooters

No motor vehicles other than buses are allowed to cross Bank Junction, Monday to Friday from 7am-7pm.

  • Buses

To be classified as a bus the motor vehicle must be designed and constructed for the carriage of at least eight passengers.

  • Driving through Bank Junction on public holidays

If a public holiday falls between Monday and Friday the restrictions between 7am-7pm will not be enforced.
