Regeneration and support

We work together in partnership with the public, private and voluntary sectors to support economic, social and environmental well-being in the City and its surrounding boroughs.

Charitable and grant-related work

We run and fund a number of charities to help and support various initiatives in which we are directly involved, such as the City Bridge Trust, and other grants and scholarships.

Education and training

In addition to our family of schools and academies, we run a variety of projects to support young people both in the City and City fringe boroughs to access work placements. We also run a formal apprenticeships scheme and support employers to take on apprentices.

Urban regeneration and infrastructure

We work on cross-borough projects that can improve the quality of life for all Londoners. This includes the City’s Public Realm, the streets and spaces between buildings that we all share, and the new Elizabeth line, better known as Crossrail. Fully operational by the end of 2018 this will service the City via two stations at Liverpool Street and Farringdon, ease congestion and improve transport links across the capital.

Encouraging City businesses engagement

We operate a number of schemes designed to assist and encourage City businesses to support their local communities. This can range from mentoring young people to hosting work placements and buying materials locally. Heart of the City provides free support to businesses that want to start or develop a Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The Dragon Awards scheme celebrates corporate community involvement by recognising companies which have contributed significantly to the improvement of community life and employment opportunities in London.
