The Library’s membership has been designed to give small businesses across the UK remote access to a wide range of invaluable business information, including company contacts and market research. These will support the success of your business.

Market research helps you identify key trends in your industry and identify potential markets for growth. It is the best way to keep up with market trends, changes in relevant legislation, new innovations, all of which help you maintain a competitive edge.

Membership is for personal use only, and for UK residents aged 16 and over. It is open to SMEs or smaller companies (fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £25m) and is not open to large organisations.

    Remote access
  • ​Download the terms and conditions of becoming a City Business Library member (155KB).
  • We have tried to answer as many frequently asked questions but if you are still unsure please contact the City Business Library via email.
  • You will need to provide proof of your UK address when completing your membership in the library.
    We accept the following:
    - Recent utility or council tax bill, or tenancy agreement
    - Current, valid full UK photo-card driving licence with signature
    - Recent bank statement
    - Medical card or medical appointment letter
    - Student Loans Company letter or letter from college confirming address
    - Hostel accommodation letter (for those with no fixed address)
  • Guest access to library computers is available to non-members for up to an hour.
