The tenth edition of our annual total tax report finds that the UK's financial services sector contributed £72.1 billion in taxes in the year to March 2017. This year's figure is the highest since the survey began in 2007. The financial services sector employed 3.5% of the UK workforce, generating 7.2% of economic output and 11% of total UK Government tax receipts.

Prepared for the City of London Corporation by PwC, the report demonstrates the financial services industry’s significant contribution to public funds. The total tax contribution is estimated through a survey of financial services firms who, together, employ almost 40% of the sector's 1.1 million employees.
