Apprenticeships in the City

Apprenticeships in the City

As part of our commitment to building the skills the City needs and connecting the City's opportunities with London's diverse talent, we aim to increase apprenticeships within the financial services sector.

Through a pilot programme "Apprenticeships in the City", we supported small and medium sized Banking and Asset Management firms, who were new to apprenticeships and wondering where to start, with a guide to making the apprenticeship levy work for them. As well as sharing knowledge, the programme tested an approach to co-commissioning apprenticeship training provision.

As a result of this four-month programme, we know that small and medium sized levy payers in the financial services sector are willing to engage and to work together on the apprenticeship agenda, but they fail to get sufficient support from training providers and lack the capacity to navigate government resources.

This free programme was delivered by the City of London Corporation - in partnership with City HR Association, Investment 2020, the National Skills Academy for Financial Services and the Tech Partnership -
