Wholesale food markets

Wholesale Markets

The City Corporation owns and manages London's three principal Wholesale Food Markets. It provides and maintains the sites and their infrastructure and lets out trading space on long term leases to tenants who trade in the various commodities.

The principal customers are catering suppliers, hotels, restaurants, retail and street markets. Centrally, the work of the Markets is co-ordinated by the Directorate, based in Guildhall, and the whole is part of the wider Department of Markets and Consumer Protection.

Co-locating the wholesale markets

A public consultation was carried out between June and August 2019, to capture feedback on the proposal to consolidate the City of London Corporation's three wholesale markets.

The feedback from the consultation has been analysed and presented into a summary report available on the consultation portal.
