London Life: Art Exhibition
From 3 to 25 September 2024 come and discover how London is seen through the eyes of twelve textile and mixed media artists at the Barbican Library.
Phoenix Contemporary Textiles - London Life exhibition brings together diverse perspectives of the city where these artists live and work. As well as celebrating some of the more famous landmarks and architecture in London, the artists have also been inspired by train journeys, museums, open spaces, politics, the Thames, plants and everyday life.
The exhibition will feature over 100 artworks which explore life in and around London in a variety of media and forms including textile, print, photography, mixed media, handmade books and sculptures. The artists use a variety of materials in their work so don’t be surprised when you see oyster shells, rusty washers and train tickets all being turned into works of art.
Most of the work in the exhibition will be for sale.
Phoenix Contemporary Textiles is a group of twelve artists living in and around London, each with their own diverse textile-inspired art practices. The group was founded in 1992 and meets every month in Kingston upon Thames.
