Come along to Shoe Lane Library's monthly Historical Discussion Group, where this September we'll be discussing the 1938 radio production of H.G. Wells' novel 'The War of the Worlds.'

Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre On The Air caused havoc on October 30th 1938 . . . or did it? Said to have panicked a nation who thought what they were hearing was real, the story of Welles' broadcast is almost as famous as the novel itself, and the production remains a touchstone of radio drama. Join Shoe Lane Library online to discuss this remarkable adaptation and its aftermath.
