The Open Space Strategy sets out how we will protect and enhance the gardens in the City and create more spaces. It guides the management and planning of open spaces.

 Open Space Strategy 2015 (2MB) 

The Strategy was adopted in January 2015 as a supplementary planning document . The Strategy was informed by an Open Spaces Audit which provided information on the number, distribution and quality of the City's open spaces.

Historic open spaces 

Historic England's Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England identifies over 1,600 sites assessed to be of national importance. The City of London has four registered parks and gardens within its boundary:

Our Biodiversity Action Plan sets out measures to encourage wildlife in open spaces and throughout the City.
