The Laurence Pountney Hill Conservation Area Character Summary (40KB) and Laurence Pountney Hill Conservation Area Management Strategy (40KB) were published in 2007. The documents identify key characteristics of the area and particular planning considerations.

The boundary of this conservation area was adjusted as part of a general boundary review in 2007. It supersedes the boundary depicted in the above Character Summary. To view the current boundary, please visit the City's interactive map, selecting 'Conservation Areas' under the 'Conservation' tab.

 History and character summary

  • Important, well-preserved historic buildings, including Nos. 1 and 2 Laurence Pounteny Lane from c.1703
  • Located on the site of the Roman Governor's Palace, a scheduled ancient monument.
