An early example of Victorian improvements superimposed on historic street pattern, focused on Fenchurch Street Station's adjoining streets and spaces. ​

The Fenchurch Street Station Conservation Area SPD (1MB) was adopted on the 22 March 2013.

This document analyses the significance of the conservation area and sets out relevant policies for its preservation and enhancement.

History and character summary

  • The first railway station to be built within the boundaries of the City of London, as part of one of London's earliest railway lines
  • A townscape with significant 18th, 19th and 20th century buildings and structures
