The City of London Corporation is preparing a new local Plan which will provide the planning framework up to 2036. Go to City Plan 2036 to help us shape the plan

The Local Plan is the strategy for planning the City of London. It sets out the vision for shaping the Square Mile in the future and contains the policies which guide planning decisions.

The Local Plan was adopted on 15 January 2015.

The Local Plan replaces the previous plans for the City, which were the Core Strategy 2011 and the Unitary Development Plan 2002. These plans can be seen on our Archived Plans page.

Preparation of the Local Plan

The Local Plan was examined by an independent planning inspector between May and November 2014. Find out more about the public examination.

The Local Plan has been prepared in consultation with the public. Details of this consultation and associated documents are available upon request from the Local Plans team (see Further Information below for contact details).

The policies of the Local Plan have been drawn up in the light of an extensive evidence base of research and studies. Details of these sources are contained in the evidence base.
