Plastic Free City is an initiative to help businesses, workers and residents reduce their reliance on unnecessary single-use plastics.

The idea is to encourage re-usable containers and raise awareness of the damage caused by plastic litter, particularly along the City's riverfront and bridges.

Did you know?

  • In the UK alone, the amount of single-use plastic waste every year would fill 1,000 Royal Albert Halls.
  • Two billion straws are thrown away across London each year.
  • The average time for a plastic bottle to completely degrade is at least 450 years.

Plastic Free City offers advice and resources to help reduce your reliance on single-use plastics, with plenty of tips and alternatives to single use plastic straws, cutlery, cups and more.

Whether you are an individual or a business, sign up to the Plastic Free City Pledge and find out about news, events and activities taking place across the City to help reduce the environmental impact of plastic pollution.
