Keeping active is vital to improving and maintaining both physical and mental health

​Maintaining your physical health​

​​NHS Health Ch​ecks

NHS Health Checks are designed to identify the early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.

City residents aged between 40 and 74 years old are eligible to complete an NHS Health Check. For more information speak to your GP.

​Weight management service

This 12-week programme, delivered by Weight Watchers, supports City residents and eligible City workers with a BMI of 30 or above to make positive changes to their lifestyles and create long-term change, helping them to achieve weight loss, prevent weight gain, and develop healthier eating habits.

City residents who are interested in the service should speak to their GP in the first instance.

City workers in service and/ or manual roles such as construction, retail, food services, hospitality, transport and storage and manufacturing, who have a Body Mass Index of 23.5 or above, are able to access the free service and should call 0345 602 7068 (national call rate) and quote reference WWRS106​ to assess their eligibility.

Exercise on referral service

​This service is for City of London residents aged 18+ who are sedentary and/ or have a condition that puts them at risk of future ill-health. The service will help you to develop and maintain healthy exercise and physical activity habits, identify and set goals, and improve physiological health indicators, including blood pressure, weight, body mass index and heart rate.
