The aim of the Supported Housing Team is to develop and sustain people's capacity to live independently in their accommodation.
This could be through such things as enabling them to access their correct benefit entitlement, ensuring they have the required skills to maintain a tenancy or accessing a community alarm service. This support is provided in a variety of ways - from a daily wellbeing check for people living in our sheltered accommodation, to short home visits from a Tenancy Support Officer. The level of support provided depends on the level of need. Appropriate housing-related support can help prevent problems which can often lead to hospitalisation, institutional care or homelessness. It can also help with the smooth transition to independent living for those leaving institutional environments.
