Golden Lane Estate
About the estate
The estate office and the ground floor of Great Arthur House are being refurbished to accommodate three new flats and a smaller estate office. Staff are relocating to a temporary location, the office remains closed to residents, staff are accessible by phone or email.
Completed in the mid-1960s, Golden Lane Estate sits adjacent to the Barbican Estate and internationally-famous Barbican Arts Centre.
This Grade II housing estate was inspired by Le Corbusier's Maisons Jaoul. Hard-landscaped areas on different levels respond to the varying forms of surrounding buildings while simple gradations of privacy are achieved without walls, gates or railings. Winner of Housing Design Award.
