Coronavirus (COVID-19) - updated 9 September 2021

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and remote working arrangements, anyone seeking housing advice or homelessness services is still encouraged to use the online self-referral tool (below) in the first instance.

If you are unable to use the self-referral tool, please get in touch by emailing the Homelessness Team, or by phone: 0207 332 1804.

We are not offering face-to-face appointments at the Guildhall with a member of staff at this time, however if you wish to attend the Guildhall for homelessness advice and information, or need to speak to someone away from your home environment, we are now offering video meetings which can connect you to a member of the Homelessness Team during our opening hours. If you would like to arrange a video meeting, please contact the Homelessness Team, or ask at North Wing reception in the Guildhall.

Please note: if you are moving through the public areas at the Guildhall, we encourage you to wear a face covering where possible.

Self-referral

If you are experiencing housing difficulties, or have a threat of homelessness, you can begin your full housing assessment by submitting a self-referral. All referrals are received by the Homelessness Team. After you have submitted a referral, an Advice and Homelessness Officer will triage your referral and contact you to discuss your housing options.

We are open via phone and email only. Please do not attend the Guildhall unless asked to do so by a member of staff.

If you, or someone you are supporting, are experiencing an emergency outside of normal working hours and have immediate health or care needs, you can seek assistance via the Emergency Out of Hours Social Work Service (operated by London Borough of Hackney) by calling 0208 356 2300. The Shelter helpline is available for certain periods outside of normal office hours. They can be contacted on 0808 800 4444. The Shelter website also has a comprehensive range of information and advice.

If you have an emergency outside of normal office hours where you feel that you are being threatened or that you are at risk of violence, please call the police in the first instance using 999 or 101.
