COVID-19 Update

All our lending libraries are closed for the foreseeable future. We may not physically be in the libraries but Barbican and Community Libraries staff are working very hard to create a number of online experiences for you and your families during these extraordinary times. Expect to see our first virtual Rhymetime very soon.

To ensure you don’t miss anything, please follow us on Twitter - @Barbicanlib @BarbicanMusic @Barbicankids @ShoeLaneLib @artizanlibrary - and look for and follow your library on Facebook so you can keep up with all the latest news.

We are doing our best to keep our enquiries service running. If you have an enquiry on any subject, please use social media to message the libraries or email us at Barbican Library, Shoe Lane Library or Artizan Library. We will do our very best to answer you.

In the meantime, we already have a number of free online resources for you to use. On the Internet, search for City of London Libraries eResources. You will find instructions on how to use your library membership to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eComics. You can also learn a new language or brush up your skills with our Transparent Languages online service.

For music lovers, have a look at Naxos, our music and video streaming service which offers library members over two million tracks to listen to from the world’s largest classical music label, and over three thousand full length videos of classical music performances, opera, ballet, live concerts and documentaries.

If you have books or other items on loan, please don’t worry about returning them now. We have renewed them all until the end of June.

You can join any of our libraries by signing up online or by visiting us. Come and see what we can offer

We offer venue hire at extremely competitive rates!

Did you know that your IT or training department can hire a state of the art equipped training area complete with the computers that fold away into the desks to make a large open space or have 12 work stations which ever you prefer? There is also a "smart wall" available within this space.

Do you want to hold a small conference or meeting? We have a Main Hall that accommodates 45-50 people.

Concerned about catering? Our Main Hall has its own mini kitchen, or you can contact any of the local catering firms that are within easy access of us.

We even have a dance studio that can be hired for events such as rehearsals, arts performances or training classes!

Email Artizan Library or 020 7332 3810 for further information.
