COVID-19 Parking and driving in the City

Date updated: 10/29/2021

Everyone should follow the Government’s advice to stay at home and not make unnecessary journeys including working from home where this is possible. Go to the Government’s Coronavirus website for more information.

If you need to use your vehicle please go to Parking for car park locations and charges.

Currently no cash payments can be taken in the car parks (contactless only).  Customers are asked to observe the social distancing measures in place.

Parking restrictions will be kept under review to ensure we continue to maintain safety on our streets, improve air quality and meet the needs of key workers, and those working and living in the City.

Enforcement (penalty charge notice)

It is very important to comply with the parking restrictions for safety reasons and to prevent obstruction. A Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued to a vehicle parked in contravention of the regulations. This includes single yellow lines during controlled hours and footway parking at any time.

If you receive a PCN (parking ticket) and you are a key worker or provide an essential public service, please write to the address on the parking ticket as soon as possible. Providing there is evidence to show that you were undertaking your duties and providing a vital service at the time the ticket was issued, we will consider cancelling it.
