The City of London has developed proposals to improve the public realm in Monument Yard, Fish Street Hill, Pudding Lane and the junction of Monument and Lower Thames streets.

The main improvement works around the Monument have been completed, including raising the paving and installation of new timber seats and granite stone benches, semi-matured trees and improved lighting. Additional street furniture will be installed in the coming months to complete this phase of the project.

The works at the junction of Monument and Lower Thames streets are currently underway and are expected to be completed by December 2018. The improvements will deliver additional trees, new planters, an enhanced planting schedule, seating and resurfacing the area in a porous robust, robust material.

We will be publishing regular ebulletin during the works, providing updates on progress and giving advanced notice of road closures and other temporary arrangements. You can sign up to receive these updates via email. If you have any queries about the project, please email

If you have any concerns regarding day-to-day construction management please contact the Corporation's term contractor JB Riney:
