Business Improvement Districts (BIDs)

The City Corporation is the BID Proposer and BID Body for two established BIDs in the City, the Cheapside Business Alliance and Aldgate Connect BIDs.  The City Property Advisory Team works closely with the business and property owner community to support ongoing regeneration of their areas.  Each area is distinct in terms of its character and needs and the City Corporation seeks to engage with the business community in the area to initially establish business partnerships as a precursor to a formal BID being promoted. The are currently two business partnerships established, the Fleet Street Quarter and EC Partnership which are seeking to move forward to formal BID status in 2022.

Fleet Street Partnership

The Fleet Street Partnership has been developed by the City Property Advisory Team working with businesses and landowners in the area to provide a future vision for Fleet Street. The key priorities include enhancing the area’s retail and leisure offer, improving traffic congestion for pedestrians, developing a business community and developing a brand identity for Fleet Street. The Partnership was formed in May 2019 with the aim of eventually progressing to BID status.

The Eastern Cluster Partnership

The tall buildings area of the City, referred to as the Eastern Cluster, is undergoing massive change with eight million square feet of new floor space planned for an estimated 70,000 additional office workers over the next ten years. To maximise the benefits of this rapid development, a voluntary partnership was formed in July 2019.  The Partnership is currently looking at security and resilience, transportation and pedestrian movement, freight consolidation, identity and branding and also diversification of the business base.
