COVID Compliant Accreditation Scheme

Date created: 9/10/2020

The City Corporation is running a pilot COVID Compliant Accreditation Scheme that offers businesses a free verification assessment from our Environmental Health Officers.

This scheme is aimed at supporting businesses in their reopening and reassuring customers that they have systems in place to minimise risks associated with coronavirus and that their premises are safe to visit.

The pilot will be based around the Cheapside Business Improvement District and supported by the Cheapside Business Alliance.

All participating businesses need to do is submit details of their COVID-Secure systems including:

  • their current written COVID-Secure Risk Assessment
  • any internal COVID-19 related procedure notes such as cleaning schedules, etc.
  • records of staff training specifically on COVID-19 protection measures

An Environmental Health Officer will then contact the business to assess these measures and discuss the details of their systems.

Following this initial review, the officer will then carry out an on-site verification visit to confirm that the documented COVID-19 procedures are being implemented effectively in the business.

Businesses meeting the requirements will be provided with the scheme’s accreditation door / window decal stating that they are “COVID COMPLIANT”.

The scheme is being run in partnership with two other central London local authorities, Southwark and Camden, and may be extended further in future.
