The ​Epping Forest Visitor Centre at High Beach is a fully-accessible ground floor building with dedicated disabled parking bays, a fully accessible toilet, a hearing loop; and a nearby easy access path suitable for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs and young children. Opening hours

​April to October: 10am - 4pm, Thursday to Sunday.

November to March: 10am - 3pm, Thursday to Sunday.

Entry is free of charge.

The Epping Forest Visitor Centre at High Beach is a great place to picnic and an ideal stop on your way through the Forest. Volunteers are on hand to help you, with maps, leaflets, souvenirs, events and lots of information on the Forest's wildlife.

The centre is operated by the Epping Forest Heritage Trust  on behalf of the City of London.

The Epping Forest Visitor Centre in High Beach is more than 45 minutes' walk from its nearest train station, and similarly distant from bus routes.

If you'd like to visit one of our centres easily by public transport, we recommend our Chingford centre.

The Epping Forest Visitor Centre at High Beach is located at Paul's Nursery Road, High Beach, Essex, IG10 4AF and has its own car park. Other nearby Epping Forest car parks, in order of proximity, include:

  • Pillow Mounds car park

The centre is the perfect place to get up close and personal with the wildlife living in Epping Forest. You can watch birds and squirrels enjoying tasty snacks, and find out about the different types of animals who have made Epping Forest their home - see how many different birds, butterflies and mammals you can spot!

Visit our Forest shop

Don’t forget to visit our forest shop, where you can browse our giftware and traditional toys. We supply a choice of maps and guide books about the forest and related discounted books on wildlife and related topics too.

We’re also doing our bit to recycle your old books, so browse our ‘Spread the Word' shelf or donate us your unwanted novels or other books to share with our visitors.

Discover the Forest wildlife

Watch birds and squirrels enjoy tasty snacks at the bird feeder, all from the comfort of the Visitor Centre. We have plenty of different bird identification guides for sale, so start your birdwatching expeditions here.

Explore natural history

Children and families in particular will enjoy our traditional display case of forest wildlife. See how many different birds, butterflies and mammals you can spot both in the case and around the building.
