A muddy path winds through oaks and light foliage, with light coming through the canopy giving the scene a green hue.

Walthamstow Forest is one of the larger wooded areas in the south of the Forest and, with its majestic hornbeams, gives visitors a real feel for the ancient woodlands of Epping Forest.

Mill Plain, a grassy area between Woodford and the Waterworks roundabout, is named after a Walthamstow windmill built nearby in 1676. It also offers a fantastic view over the London skyline above the treetops.
