Highgate Wood is 28 hectares of ancient woodland in north London.

It is a haven for wildlife and provides numerous easily accessible and scenic woodland trails. The Sports Ground, located in an opening in the Wood, provides a picturesque and rural backdrop, as well as top quality turf. There is an excellent playground, a renowned café, an information hut with leaflets and trail guides, and well maintained toilet facilities.

Our knowledgeable and friendly wood keepers are on site every day of the year and will be happy to help make your visit more enjoyable.

Highgate Wood has received the Green Flag Award for over twenty consecutive years. It has also received the Green Heritage Award in recognition of its high standard of management as a site of historic importance.

Dog walkers

  • please be considerate of all users of the Wood
  • keep your dog under effective control - that means in sight at all times and returning when called
  • carry a dog bag with you and take the waste home or put it in any of the special dog bins on site
  • make sure you have a lead with you at all times

Admire a beautiful assortment of owls, falcons, and other birds of prey, and learn fascinating facts about them from the couple who hand-reared them. There will be opportunities to get close up to some of the birds. Conditions permitting, there will be flight display at the end.
