Booking a group tour or visit

Book a tour/visit as an introduction to the Library's history and collections by one of our Librarians followed by a chance to view 'treasures' from the collection. 

A selection of Guildhall Library 'treasures' will be on display - these may include: John Stow's A Survay of London…, 1598, The London Gazette, 1666, Francesco Colonna's Poliphili Hypnerotomachia, ubi humana omnia non nisi somnium esse ostendit  [Venice], 1499, William Shakespeare's The tragedy of Othello, the Moore of Venice, 1655 and Bills of Mortality, 1665.

There will then be an opportunity to visit the Library's book stores, which are not normally accessible to the public.

Visit: 1 ½ hours
Group size: six minimum twelve maximum 
£5 per person

Please note - this tour is aimed at groups, but individuals can attend our free monthly tour The History and Treasures of Guildhall Library which must be booked via Eventbrite.  

How to book a group visit

Group visits are usually held on:

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays
  • Between 10am-12 noon or 2pm-4pm

However, it may be possible to arrange a visit on other days/times, subject to availability.

  • How many people are in the group 
  • When you would like to visit.

Please be aware that as tours and visits are subject to availability we recommend booking well in advance.
