You can make copies or photograph some of the items in our collections. Before copying, please familiarise yourself with the copyright guidelines which are on display in the library or by asking staff.

Please note that the publication right in our holdings is owned by Guildhall Library, City of London Corporation, and members of the public cannot gain the publication right themselves by publishing, either with or without the consent of the owner of the material.

Self-service photocopying

Items must be shown to staff at the Enquiry Desk before starting copying as some restrictions apply.

  • A4 copies cost 20 pence
  • A3 copies cost 40 pence.

The photocopier accepts cash, City of London libraries membership cards, LMA history cards or print cards. Print cards can be purchased at the Help Desk on the ground floor.

Express photocopy service

If you need to get your photocopies quickly please use our express copy service. The basic charge for the premium service is £35.00 per order, plus 30p per A4 and 60p per A3 copy.

Contact the enquiry service on 020 7332 1868 to place your order.

Photocopying by Library staff

Material that cannot be copied on the public machine can sometimes be copied for you by library staff. This service normally takes five working days and charges do apply. Completed orders can be collected from the Enquiry Desk or posted. Please ask at the Enquiry Desk for further information or call 020 7332 1868.

Using your own digital camera

Photography (without flash) may be permitted subject to copyright law. An application form must be completed (obtained from the Enquiry Desk) and the photography agreed by staff first as restrictions may apply. A daily photography permit costs £5 and is valid at both Guildhall Library and London Metropolitan Archives on the date shown on your receipt.
