​Keats House and Ten Keats Grove (also home to the Keats Community Library) are available for hire for corporate functions and literary and community events.

The venues

Chester Room, Keats House

The opulent Chester Room was added on to Keats House in the 1830s by the actress Eliza Chester as a space for entertaining, a function which it continues to serve today. The room can accommodate up to 35 people for performances, presentations and / or receptions and is perfect for a special occasions when a touch of luxury is desired. The Chester Room can be hired on its own or along with the rest of Keats House.

Please note that strict terms and conditions apply to the use of the the Chester Room and Keats House in order to preserve these unique heritage assets. Please email us to find out about availability.

Nightingale Room, Ten Keats Grove

The Nightingale Room is a smart, generously-sized function space which can accommodate up to 75 people for private functions, performances, meetings or classes. It is located within the grounds of Keats House inside the Ten Keats Grove building, which also houses the Keats Community Library. It is particularly well suited to regular gatherings, such as weekly classes or group meetings.

The Nightingale Room is available for hire as follows:

  • Tuesday and Friday 5.30pm - 9pm
  • Wednesday and Thursday 9.30am - 9pm
  • Sunday 10am - 5pm

* A discounted rate is offered to not-for-profit organisations running literary events or events which benefit the local community.

A 10% discount is available for block bookings of 10 or more sessions paid in advance.

Time for setting up and packing up after events must be included in the hire times.

Terms and conditions

Keats House is a listed building which contains unique artefacts associated with John Keats's heritage. We therefore have strict terms and conditions governing private hire, which are designed to ensure this heritage is protected for the future. If you are unsure whether Keats House would be a suitable venue for your event, please contact us and we will be pleased to help you.


We do not provide catering. Hirers may be allowed to bring in their own catering for an event, depending on the details for the event in question. Please see the Terms and Conditions for further information. A fee of £75 is payable where liaison is required with caterers or other contractors.
