Learning and education for all ages

Schools programme

Bring your school group to the Guildhall Art Gallery and Roman Amphitheatre to immerse them in art and ancient history. We offer a diverse programme of workshops and tours for KS1-4, in addition to self-guided visits. Highlights include:

Amphitheatre Explorers (KS2)

Explore a real archaeological site and handle some genuine Roman artefacts under the supervision of a trained archaeologist. Find out more about the discovery of London's Roman Amphitheatre, about the topography of Roman London and what happened in one of its most important buildings. Lasting around two hours these facilitated sessions are designed to provide an exciting insight into life in the capital nearly 2000 years ago.

Victorians Decoded (KS2/KS3)

You and your students are invited to become art detectives in this facilitated workshop which is all about decoding our Victorian artworks. During the day you will discover some of the characters in the collection, put words in their mouths, and work together on a group portrait to commemorate your visit. Students will find out more about the lives of the Victorians, and do lots of practical activities inspired by original artworks.

Facilitated workshop cost: £100 per class/2hr session
