How Your Membership Helps

You can play an important part in developing the City of London's art collection and securing its future. The Friends are independent of the Gallery and are a registered charity. They make a vital contribution to and raise funds to help purchase significant additions to the collection or support specific projects.

Since 2002, the Friends have helped to fund exhibitions, events, and contributed to the purchase of a number of paintings.

Your membership will help the Gallery continue its exhibitions and events programme, and will contribute to our membership of the Contemporary Art Society to help us build up our art collection for the future.

How to join

An annual membership is £25 (£20 concessions). You can download the Friends' Membership form (2MB) and post it to the addresses below. Alternatively, pick up a form when you next visit the Gallery.

Vivien Knight Fund

The Friends of Guildhall Art Gallery also administer the Vivien Knight Fund, which was established to celebrate Curator Vivien Knight's outstanding professional achievements and as a continuing memorial to her work for Guildhall Art Gallery. She was critical to the successful building and opening of the new Gallery in 1999 as well as its development as a major public art gallery in London over the first decade of its existence. The Fund will take forward the challenges she laid down into the Gallery's second decade and beyond.

The Fund supports areas that Vivien was passionate about, notably interpretation, research and acquisition around Victorian painting and encouraging young people into Gallery work, in both conservation and curatorial roles. We are especially keen to establish internships in these areas.

If you would like to make a donation to the Fund, you can do so via a cheque made out to the 'City of London'. Please contact the Friends for further details.
