Tours and talks

Free tours every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Combine a visit to the Gallery with a free tour of the highlights of the Art Collection, the Heritage Gallery and the Roman Amphitheatre, available every Friday. Tours are given by a qualified Guide and last approximately 45 minutes.

These short highlight tours are designed for individuals and small parties (under six); they are not intended for larger / organised groups. Group tours can be arranged separately, see below.

Women on Canvas Tours - Free tours every Thursday

Part of Women: Work & Power, take a guided tour of the Guildhall Art Gallery's permanent collection and discover the women featured, from artists to muses, including Rossetti's La Ghirlandata and John Collier's Clytemnestra.

Group tours

You can arrange a bespoke guided tour or talk on individual works of art or aspects of the City of London collection for a fee of £110. A maximum of 25 people can attend a group guided tour. They last approximately 90 minutes.

Sublime Symmetry Talks

Sophia De Morgan: Spiritualist, Suffragist, and Founder of Bedford College

Join Dr Lucy Ella Rose to learn more about pioneering, though under-studied, women’s rights campaigner, Sophia De Morgan (1809–1892) -  writer, social activist, abolitionist, anti-vivisectionist, spiritualist, friend of George Eliot, and mother to ceramicist William De Morgan. Curator Talks (new dates added)

Join exhibition curator Sarah Hardy (De Morgan Foundation) for a tour of the sublime ceramics. Learn more about De Morgan’s life and work, and how mathematics influences his creative designs. Talks are free, just turn up.

Portraits of Huguenot Women Talk

Discover the life stories and see the faces and creations of some extraordinary and inspiring women of Huguenot origins. They include an early agitator for women’s rights, talented silk weavers, successful businesswomen working with precious metals - and the wife of a notorious fraudster. Part of Women: Work & Power. Book here.

Free London's Roman Amphitheatre tour & Object Handling

Join a 40-minute tour of the Amphitheatre and handle some genuine Roman antiquities with resident archaeologist Andrew Lane. Find out more about the capital’s oldest sports arena and one of the most important buildings in Roman London. No booking necessary, just turn-up.
