Plan a fun-filled day in the City for groups

With must-see attractions, museums and galleries all within a short walking distance of each other, the City, the oldest part of London, is the perfect destination for a group trip or day out.

Here’s our suggestion for a fantastic group day out with all your friends, family and society members.

Morning

  • Pop into the City Information Centre to buy all your fast-track tickets to attractions. You can avoid the queues, get great group discounts and have a hassle-free day.
  • Start your day at St Paul’s Cathedral. Designed by Sir Christopher Wren, it is an iconic feature of the London skyline and there is lots to explore inside for a few hours.

Lunch

Afternoon

  • Visit the Tower of London, medieval fortress and home to the Crown Jewels. While you’re there, join one of the famous Yeoman Warder tours and hear about the Tower’s past, see the ravens next to the White Tower and discover the prisoner graffiti in the Beauchamp Tower.

Evening

  • See a show or a music concert at the Barbican, London’s premier venue for live performance. Find out what’s on here. Relax in one of the Barbican’s restaurants and bars for pre-show drinks and food.

Top tips and other great things to see and do in the City for groups

  • Hire a City Guide for a personal tour of the Square Mile or join one of the regular themed guided walks leaving the City Information Centre daily.
  • Get fabulous views of London and the River Thames from its high-level walkways and find out about the workings and history of one of the most famous bridges in the world - Tower Bridge
  • Visit the Museum of London, a fantastic free museum that tells the story of the capital from prehistoric times to the present day. Refreshments are available in the museum’s cafes.
  • Stay overnight in a City hotel to explore more of the Square Mile the next day. They provide great value at the weekends and are perfectly placed for exploring the rest of central London.
