The Bridewell Theatre, tucked behind Fleet Street at the St Bride Foundation, is something of a hidden gem.

It was founded in 1994 in a disused Victorian swimming pool and laundry which is still beneath the floor of the auditorium. It hosts a variety of productions – from classics to contemporary – and as well as its evening programme, it shows 45-minute lunchtime plays, during which the audience are encouraged to eat.
