In 1478 the role of Master of the Works of the City was created to oversee plans, finances and works. Officeholders include Sir Horace Jones, George Dance (elder and younger) and James Bunstone Bunning, under whose watch the City’s skyline and fabric was forged. Join a City Guide to discover some incredible feats of architecture and construction and hear about City Surveyors past and present, seeing their legacy in today’s landscape.

From East to West

Meet at Liverpool Street Station (top of the escalators by entry/exit next to Kindertransport statue and McDonalds). The tour ends at Cheapside.

1.30pm - 3pm on the following dates:

  • 4 and 18 June
  • 2, 16 and 23 July
  • 6, 17 and 27 August
  • 3, 14 and 24 September

6pm - 8pm on 13 June.

The North West Quarter

Meet at St Paul’s tube (Exit 1). The tours ends at Guildhall Yard.

1.30pm - 3pm on the following dates:

  • 11 and 25 June
  • 9, 20 and 30 July
  • 13 and 20 August
  • 10 and 17 September

6pm - 8pm on 11 July.
