Tell your story: save our British black music history

On Saturday July 5, Black Sound London, in conjunction with the Museum of Youth Culture and the Barbican Music Library will be recording the extraordinary stories told by regular people – the followers of our British black music – about what this music means to them.

Share with us how you got into it; why you got into that particular strand; how it enriched your life; how you interacted with it – y’know, clothes, clubs, records, magazines and so on. Any memories you have of what made British black music special to you, we will record them and store them on Museum of Youth Culture’s server to build up the people’s story of British black music for free public access. Relevant artefacts and photos can also be scanned and included in your archive entry, and while gratefully received are not a condition of participation.

History belongs to those who record it - be part of yours.
