Find out how the Amphitheatre was discovered, the role of the games in Roman society and the truth behind some of the myths and legends surrounding the gladiators. Walking across the ancient city, we finish our tour at Billingsgate Roman House and Baths. This hidden gem located in the basement of a modern office block, highlights another important aspect of Roman leisure: bathing.

The tour takes place on Saturday 23 March at 11am and 2:30pm, and will last for approximately two hours.

It will start at Guildhall Art Gallery and London’s Roman Amphitheatre and finish at Billingsgate Roman House and Baths.

Accessibility

Walking between the two venues will take approximately 30 minutes. Billingsgate Roman House and Baths is located in the basement of an office block. The only access is via a staircase (two, nine and three steps).

The tour is designed for adults. Accompanying children are welcome although the suggested minimum age is eight years old. All children must be carefully supervised at all times.

Please note that tours starting at 2.30pm will finish after the closure of the Guildhall Art Gallery.
