Adult Social Care Reform and Commissioning

Social care is at the heart of our communities.

Adult Social Care is the support provided to adults with physical or learning disabilities, or physical or mental health illnesses. The aim is to help people stay independent, safe, and well so they can live the lives they want to, as well as the people who care for them. If you would like to find information about Adult Social Care, support for unpaid carers or to contact us, visit our Adult Social Care section.

The reform will mean that there are changes to Adult Social Care that will help us provide greater choice for those receiving care, opportunity for those providing it and certainty over costs.

The government’s vision for social care reform sets out how people will experience care and support in the future, to ensure that:

  1. People have choice, control and support to live independent lives
  2. People can access outstanding and tailored quality of care and support
  3. People find Adult Social Care fair and accessible
