Business Leaflet
Dear City Business,
In my role as Lord Mayor of London, I am both a global ambassador for financial, professional, legal and maritime services, as well as the civic leader of the City of London Corporation, the organisation that runs the Square Mile. We are proud that your business has chosen to locate here, and grateful for the vital role you and your colleagues play in our community.
Our mission is to drive the City’s success – and that means supporting businesses like yours. The City of London Corporation provides a diverse offering, from overseeing the City Police, supporting small businesses and start-ups through our SME Gateway, connecting staff networks through our City Belonging Project, promoting financial services and skills policy and more. We also run cultural institutions like the Barbican Centre and put on a range of community events, ensuring a vibrant "Destination City” for workers and visitors alike.
Please review some of our offerings in the links below, and sign up for updates on what is happening throughout the year. We’re here to serve you, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any concerns or queries by emailing the City Belonging Project team.
Sincerely,
The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of London
Alderman Alastair King DL

The City Belonging Project exists to build a more inclusive and connected Square Mile, supporting and improving the links between staff networks. We have convened a range of events and networks, including for Pride, Black History Month, faith events and more - and have worked with City Guides to give tours of the City.
We have recently launched Faith in the City, a landmark research programme to understand the faith and belief needs of the Square Mile and put forward ideas for the future. If you have staff from faith communities, let them know about the programme and take the survey.
The City of London Corporation is committed to empowering start-ups and small and medium sized (SME) businesses to start and grow. We offer access to crucial resources such as advice on accessing finance, business data, workspace, networking opportunities and expertise.
We recently launched the SME Gateway which brings together all our services for SMEs.

The Barbican Centre presents some of the world’s most exciting, relevant, and daring cultural events all year round: and we’re literally on your door-step. With over 3,000 events each year offering the very best in theatre, cinema, the visual arts, dance, and live music, there is something for everyone within our iconic building.
As a business located within the City, there are numerous opportunities for you to experience our work, both personally and professionally.
To book your personal tour of the Barbican Centre, see inside the iconic Conservatory, hear about the work we do with the local community, and find out more about how you and your colleagues can benefit from our work, contact Susie Stirling via email or on 0203 834 1203.
City of London Police are here to ensure the Square Mile remains the safest business district in the world.
Our Neighbourhood Policing Team works with businesses to tackle crime, enhance security and strengthen partnerships. Your business can help set our priorities by joining your local cluster panel - and raise any local issues with your Dedicated Ward Officer.
Elections for the City’s councillors will take place on 20 March. Uniquely, workplaces with a freehold or lease can register their staff to vote.
Find out more on the Speak for the City website.
If your organisation has not yet registered voters and wants to take part in future elections, please email the Elections team.
