SME Toolkit for Enterprise Progress Programme
Elevate your business with the STEP programme!
If you've started a business in the City of London and are looking to take the next step on your business journey, this programme is for you.
Through a comprehensive Business Needs Analysis, tailored advice and signposting, and peer-to-peer networking groups, you'll come away with an action plan, increased knowledge, and a network to grow your business.
The programme is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered by the Small Business Research + Enterprise Centre (SBREC).

How does it work?
You will be introduced to a Business Adviser who will undertake an in-depth Business Needs Analysis with you. Together, you'll look at all aspects of your business, including sales, marketing, and financials, to identify key areas for growth and improvement tailored to your unique challenges and goals.
Based on your Business Needs Analysis, you and the Business Adviser will create an Action plan which will break down what you need to do to achieve your goals. The plan will also include further support available from the Small Business Research + Enterprise Centre, the City of London Corporation, and our partners that will help you achieve your goals.
After the initial meeting, you'll have brief check-ins with us to monitor progress, adapt strategies, and overcome challenges.
You will be invited to join a Mastermind group where you can connect with peers on the programme. This will be an opportunity to share challenges, exchange insights, and receive feedback on how to move forward from people who have been in similar situations.
Eligibility
To register for the free STEP programme, you will need to be running a business which:
- is registered or has a trading address in the City of London
- has been trading for at least 6 months
- has fewer than 250 employees
The STEP Programme is now closed to new applicants.
