First recorded circa 1244, destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren between 1685 – 1693, again destroyed in the wartime Blitz on the City in 1940 and finally re-hallowed in 1961.

Today's church of St Andrew is a complete reconstruction nestling within Wren's walls. The simple grace of the exterior contrasts with a wealth of woodwork inside carved in traditional style.
