West Ham Park playground refurbishment

As one of the largest green spaces in Newham, West Ham Park provides a vital greenspace for local people. With over 450,000 visits a year, our playground is a popular and much needed resource for local children and enables them to have fun, explore and be active.

The City of London Corporation has invested a significant amount of funding to help the park open the new playground. This play facility now:

Offers an area for children, parents and carers of all abilities to meet, with built in opportunities to experience risk in play

  • Utilise a wide range of materials and design ideas that respond to local needs
  • Be sensitive to the park’s surroundings and its rich history and heritage
  • Promote safe, secure and healthy activities

Through this playground we want to reduce inequality of access to physical activity and help improve the wellbeing of the local community.

We need your support to raise an extra £50,000 in order to provide a wide range of play experiences allowing children of different ages to play together. Examples of additional play items we could provide with your support would include:

  • a playhouse
  • a rotating disk
  • a trampoline
  • a crawl tunnel
  • several springers
  • Additional planting throughout the playground to make it look vibrant and colourful throughout the year. This will also enable interesting smells, sounds and textures and support pollinators and wildlife.

Every donation, whatever its value is vital to help transform the playground and provide a healthy future for the local community.

West Ham Park is the largest park in Newham and has been owned and maintained by the City of London Corporation since 1874. It is a grade II listed landscape and provides a pleasant and relaxing environment. West Ham Park is a registered charity (charity number 206948).

*Please note: If monies are raised above the required amount, or in the case that insufficient monies are raised to enable the project to go ahead, the amounts raised would be directed to similar projects within the charity.
