Vaccines reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill from viruses such as COVID-19 and the Flu.

By getting the vaccines, you protect yourself and your loved ones.

Over the last few years, winter vaccines have kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital and helped save lives.

You may be eligible for a free COVID-19 and flu vaccine each autumn/winter. These are usually given at the same appointment.

A COVID-19 booster will also be made available for some groups during the spring.

Book your COVID-19 vaccine

The following groups will be offered a COVID-19 booster vaccine during spring 2024:

  • adults aged 75 years and over
  • residents in care homes for older adults
  • individuals aged six months and over who are immunosuppressed

Eligibility for the COVID-19 booster also includes those who turn 75 years old by 30 June 2024. These people will be eligible for a vaccination at any point in the campaign. People admitted to an older adult care home or who become immunosuppressed by 30 June are also eligible.

If you cannot book online you can book over the phone by calling 119 (for free). You can speak to a translator if needed.

A local NHS service may also contact you, such as your GP surgery, to get a vaccine for you or your child. This is usually done by text or a phone call, but you may sometimes get a letter or a notification in the NHS App.

You will be able to get the vaccine from your own practice if you’re registered with:

  • Richmond Road Medical Practice
  • Elsdale Street Surgery
  • Lower Clapton Group Practice
  • Latimer Health Centre

You can also use the NHS tool to find your nearest pharmacy.

A list of pharmacies offering the COVID-19 vaccine in Hackney can be found on the Hackney website.

The next flu campaign will start in autumn 2024. Details will be available here and on the NHS website closer to the launch date.
