Private flats with bin store
Mixed recycling and rubbish
Your recycling and rubbish is collected daily, Monday to Saturday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Private blocks of flats with a bin store are provided with recycling bins and/or clear recycling bags. You may place your recycling into the bin either in the clear recycling bag or loose.
Do not use black rubbish bags or shopping bags for your recycling as these will be treated as contamination when they reach the recycling centre and the contents will not be recycled.
Clear recycling bags are delivered to you every six months. If you run out you can order more bags between deliveries.
The recycling bin in the store will usually have a green lid and a sticker or sign identifying it as a recycling bin.
Items that you cannot put in your clear recycling bag
- crisp packets
- food waste
- polystyrene
- textiles
- nappies
- black bags
- ceramic
We do not provide specific bags for your rubbish. Please use your own bags for this.
Food waste
All flats are provided with a separate food waste collection service.
You will be provided with a kitchen caddy and compostable liners to contain your food waste. All types of food can be included in your food waste collection, cooked or uncooked, egg shells, bones, tea bags and coffee grounds.
Most private blocks with a bin store have a brown food waste bin to empty your food waste liners into when full. If there is no brown food waste bin in your bin store, you may have an on-street collection for your food waste. Ask your concierge/managing agent or call 020 7606 3110 to find out more about your service.
If you do not have a kitchen caddy or need more compostable liners you can ask your concierge or contact the City of London Contact Centre on 020 7606 3110.
