Private flats without bin store
Mixed recycling and rubbish
A kerbside collection is provided to those residents who do not have access to a bin store or refuse chamber.
The City of London provides clear household recycling bags and white rubbish bags to residents receiving a kerbside collection. You must use these branded bags only for your waste and recycling or risk a fine.
Bags must be placed on the street outside your property between 6-8pm, Monday to Saturday. This is to comply with the City of London's bagged waste restrictions.
Items that you cannot put in your clear recycling bag
- crisp packets
- food waste
- polystyrene
- textiles
- nappies
- black bags
- ceramic
Find out what you can add to your clear recycling bags at our Recycling page.
Food waste
Properties with on-street collections for their rubbish and recycling also have a separate food waste collection service.
You will be provided with a kitchen caddy and compostable liners to contain your food waste. All types of food can be included in your food waste collection, cooked or uncooked, egg shells, bones, tea bags and coffee grounds.
Food waste collections take place only on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Bags must be placed on the street between 6-8pm on these days only. We advise residents to double-line their food waste bags and place them on the street outside their property on their collection days.
If the specified waste and recycling presentation time is missed for your rubbish, recycling or food waste, your bags must be stored off the street until the next scheduled collection. Please note, there are no collections on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
Recycling, food waste and rubbish bags are delivered every six months. If you run out you can order more bags between deliveries.
