This report sets out practical actions that government and the private sector can take to unlock capital in support of India’s sustainable recovery. Drawing on international best practice, the UK - India Sustainable Finance Working Group has submitted ten short term actions to accelerate flows of sustainable finance into India. These actions derive from the work carried out by the three subgroups of the Group, focusing on; developing a sustainable finance taxonomy for India, mobilising domestic capital and attracting international capital into sustainable sectors in India.

India has set ambitious emission reduction targets. To meet its National Determined Contribution, the country has pledged to reduce the emission intensity of GDP by 33%-35% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels and increase the share of non-fossil fuel sources to 40% of installed power capacity by 2030.
