All the artefacts came from Billingsgate Roman House and Baths – how many children can work out how big the object is, what it was made out of and what it was? There are six artefacts and three images of each.

The Romans loved to play board games! Gaming pieces made of bone and reused pottery shards were found at our site. Download this PDF to print out some game boards based on ones found in burials or carved into paving stones at sites across the Roman world. They were designed by one of our amazing volunteers. Some Roman writers have explained how the games were played so all instructions are included. All you need is some gaming pieces of your own.

Using the reconstruction painting of our site by Judith Dobie in AD 250 and some information about how the site developed over time, try to draw your own reconstructions of the house at different times e.g. AD 150 when it was first built, or AD 450 when it was starting to fall down.
