Get involved in your community
Being part of a community benefits everyone in many ways. Getting involved with our community and getting out and about can help us to feel less alone and more confident in the places that we live and work.
There are a range of things that you can do in the Square Mile, which you can find on our CityofLDN website, our Things to Do pages and our events page.
On this page you will find ways to get involved in your local community, our community centres and libraries and the City Connections service.
Our estates have a range of activities and events that you can be involved in throughout the year. We can also support you to run your own events and activities on your estate. You can:
- Volunteer in one of our community centres.
- Find out what is happening on your estate (contact your Estate Manager, or email the Community Engagement Team).
- Run your own coffee morning or get together. The team will be there to support you however you need, just get in touch with the Community Engagement Team.
- Earn Time Credits for setting up a group or helping your community through a wide array of activities and volunteering opportunities.
If you are interested in time credits, full details on how they work, where you can earn and spend them, see the We are Tempo website.
There are three community libraries and two community centres in the Square Mile:
- Portsoken Community Centre
- Golden Lane Community Centre
- Barbican Library
- Shoe Lane Library
- Artizan Library
There are also community centres and libraries in our neighbouring boroughs that you may be able to use. Visit their websites to find out more:
