Our Building Control service
Our surveyors are here to help you comply with the Building Regulations by being expert, constructive, reliable, friendly and valuable members of your team. We will advise you at every step of the project, so you don’t need to employ building control consultants.
Our staff have a combined experience of over 400 years and are experts in projects however large or small. Our team comprises not only building surveyors but engineers with specialisms in Fire, Structures, Buildings, Mechanical and Electrical and Public Health. Many of our staff are members of industry committees and standards drafting boards and so are at the cutting edge of current thinking and we use this expertise to de-risk your project.
We are a member of the LABC, a network of over 3,000 building control professionals, whom we can call on for support if necessary.
The services we offer include:
Help us to remove risk at the earliest stages of a project, by engaging with us at the earliest stages. We will help to identify key areas for you to consider and we do this at no cost if the project stays with us. Our intimate knowledge of the City’s buildings will help you at this stage.
You will be allocated a dedicated contact who will ensure that your project is dealt with efficiently. We will give you their direct contact details and they will be supported by specialist members of our team
We have the ability to contribute to projects beyond the Square Mile by working in partnership with the Local Authority. In some cases we can deal with the whole project ourselves.
We can offer you CPD sessions or training on aspects of Building Regulations. Please contact us if we can be of assistance and we will tailor something to your needs.
The Hackitt report was published in 2018, on Building Regulations, following the fire at Grenfell Tower. The government has accepted the report and it will result in some fundamental changes to the industry.
The City of London's District Surveyor's Office has prepared Continuing Professional Development materials on the subject and also on the Dec 2018 changes to Part B.
We liaise closely with Planning, Highways, Environmental Health, Scaffold and Hoarding Licensing, Thames Water Utilities (sewer connections), Licensing, the Access Team and Cleansing. The City Property Advisory Team are also part of our department and available for property and infrastructure advice to City businesses.
We also have an excellent working relationship with the London Fire Commissioner.
